Eco Explorer is seeking keen and enthusiastic nature lovers to become involved in our volunteer programs. Our main goal is to preserve the rich natural resources of the Brazilian Amazon and assist the native villages in maintaining the unique ecosystems they live in. We also aim to provide a unique opportunity for groups and individuals to experience an alternative way of life, while providing valuable and highly appreciated assistance to small communities and the environment in general.

PROJECTS
We are seeking volunteers to assist with a number of projects that we are operating in the heart of the Amazon. Somo of the major programs are:

Community projects:
- School Constructions
- Donation of school materials
- Health assistence in community medical posts

Teaching:
- Providing English lessons to community groups / school

Wildlife & habitat conservation
- Upkeep / maintenance of wildlife sanctuaries and reserves

These are the main projects operating in the Humaita and Santar'em regions. However, if you have any special interests or skills to offer, we would love to hear from you.

REQUIREMENTS
Wildlife knowledge and experience is not necessary. However, a love of nature and a passion for the environment are essential. The Eco-volunteer program is suitable for anyone who is in good overall health and can tolerate the extreme conditions of the tropical rainforest. The areas are very isolated and you will have to be prepared to spend time away from big villages, sometimes working in isolation. Knowledge of Portuguese, Spanish or English is an asset.

DURATION
Eco-volunteers are needed all year long and any length of stay is appreciated. To maximize your experience we suggest a period of 1 - 2 months. However, all stays are negotiated and flexible to suit your itineraries.


FOOD AND ACOMMODATION
Basic lodgings with a family in the local village will be provided, as will most meals. While doing your regular volunteer work, you will be encouraged to participate in the daily life of the community and household, for example by cooking meals and maintaining the home. Special diets such as vegetarian, vegan or food allergies can be made available.


HOW DO I GET INVLOVED
We do not charge prospective volunteers to participate in our community projects. However, we do ask that they come along on one of our jungle expeditions to gain some jungle experience and orient themselves with the rainforest.
